Yes, a physician's prescription is required for orthotic and prosthetic services. If you don't have one yet, we can help coordinate with your physician to obtain the necessary documentation. Your doctor can fax the prescription to us at (815) 401-7267.
Please bring your photo ID, insurance card(s), physician's prescription or referral, and any current orthotic or prosthetic devices you use. If you've downloaded and completed our patient intake forms ahead of time, bring those as well. Otherwise, please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.
Your initial evaluation typically takes 45 minutes to 1 hour. During this time, your practitioner will discuss your medical history, assess your needs, take measurements, and develop a personalized care plan with you.
Timelines vary depending on the type of device and complexity. Custom prosthetics typically take 2-4 weeks, while orthotics may be available sooner. Some off-the-shelf devices can be fitted the same day. We'll give you a clear timeline at your evaluation.
We work with most major insurance providers including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana, and many more. Contact us at (815) 401-7260 and we'll verify your specific coverage before your appointment.
Yes, Medicare Part B typically covers medically necessary prosthetic and orthotic devices when prescribed by a physician. Coverage may include the device itself, fittings, adjustments, and repairs. We'll help you understand your specific coverage and handle the authorization process.
Out-of-pocket costs depend on your specific insurance plan, deductible, and co-insurance. We verify your benefits before beginning treatment and will provide you with a clear estimate of any costs you may be responsible for.
Yes, Medicare Part B covers one pair of diabetic shoes and three pairs of custom inserts per calendar year for qualifying patients. You must have diabetes and meet specific criteria, including having your physician certify the medical necessity. We handle the paperwork for you.
Medicare Advantage plans are required to cover at least the same benefits as Original Medicare, so diabetic shoes should be covered. However, your plan may have specific network requirements or prior authorization procedures. Call us and we'll verify your specific plan's coverage.
Please bring your insurance card, photo ID, and your physician's prescription or Statement of Certifying Physician form. If your doctor hasn't provided this, we can help coordinate. Wear the type of socks you'd normally wear with your shoes.
The Riverside Prosthetic & Orthotic Clinic is a multi-disciplinary clinic held the second Wednesday of every month at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. It brings together physicians (Dr. Hung and Dr. Gilbert), therapists, and Aaron Hays (CPO) to provide collaborative care — so you can see your entire team in one visit rather than scheduling multiple appointments.
You can schedule through Dr. Hung's office, Dr. Gilbert's office, or by calling Kinetic O&P directly at (815) 401-7260. We'll coordinate the details and make sure you're set up to see the right team members during clinic day.
We're happy to help. Reach out to our team and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
